Joe Green

Come and share breakfast with Joe Green ‘one of our own’.   A parishioner of this parish since 1996.  A former chair of the Parish Pastoral Council and currently involved with the Youth Ministry and RCIA.  He and his wife Anne have three children now aged in their 30’s.  They have nine grandchildren ranging in age from 7-months to 16-years.

The theme is: ‘e tu ki te kei…...stand in the stern’

Joe is in his fourth year of formation in the ‘Launch Out’ programme.  He has just completed the Diploma in Pastoral Leadership. 

Having been a teacher Joe joined Police in 1983.  Starting on the beat in Wellington he has worked at all ranks in both administrative and operational roles to his current rank of Inspector.  From 1998 to 2014 he managed arms control and vetting services nationally.  Joe is currently working in an emergency planning and management role at Police National Headquarters.

Joe has been an advisor;

  • to arms control to two UN delegations,
  • to the Australian Government in the 2007 review of its firearms management systems and
  • to the State of Victoria in developing it’s Firearms Safety Foundation. 

Joe is currently on one of an international group advising the UN on the development of International Standards for Arms Control.
